The Parish Pump - November 2015

Streatham Action are offering 6 awards of £500 funding each to residents with an idea to improve our local area via a Dragons' Den competition. Entry closes on 9th November, and finalists will be invited to present to the Streatham Dragons at the Hideaway in December.

All ideas must be based on making Streatham a better place to live, work or play. Streatham Action is particularly interested in ideas from or benefiting young people, but the competition is open to everyone. For more information, go to streathamaction.org.uk or call 07776 187581.

New Openings

We're delighted to welcome Azzuri Pizzeria in Streatham Vale in the old Crumbs Bakery premises, providing a much-needed restaurant for the area. It's already proving very popular with locals, both for take away and dining in.

Another recent opening is Nightingale Café on Streatham High Rd- a welcome pit stop for shoppers near to Lidl in the old Gregg's premises. We hear reports of excellent coffee and croissants, and we're looking forward to giving them a personal try.

We're looking forward to the opening of the Inkspot Brewery bottle shop in Sternhold Avenue, which should happen in the next few weeks.

The old Purple café is getting a refurb by its new owners prior to opening as the Astoria Café – we are looking forward to meeting them too.
