Streatham Police Roundup - Issue 14
By: Morag Palmer, Lambeth South Cluster Inspector
This month with the lighter nights Lambeth Police are putting on some special events for young people. We will be at Park Campus Secondary school on the 30th June at 7.30pm to talk about the activities of the Police Cadets and local opportunities for young people to join in.
This will be followed by an opportunity for all in attendance to meet Local Police and Police Community Support Officers.
Lambeth Cadets have had a fantastic year. They have not only assisted their full time counterparts with leaflet dropping and other community activities such as the Streatham Remembrance Sunday activities and school fetes, they have taken part in competitions as far afield as the New Forest.
The Volunteer Police Cadets are a uniformed voluntary youth organisation, supported by the Met, and is open to 13 to 18year olds across London’s diverse communities, irrespective of background, financial circumstances and includes those vulnerable to crime or social exclusion.
The aim of the organisation is to teach life skills launch, social responsibility and build positive relationships between young people and the police.
