Northwood Senior School

Northwood Schools are opening a new independent senior school in September next year at 3, Garrad’s Rd. Streatham. NorthWood Senior will be a co-educational school for pupils aged 13 to 16. Northwood Schools, which owns Broomwood Hall and Northcote Lodge pre-prep and preparatory schools have appointed Susan Brooks, currently Deputy Head (Academic) at Broomwood Hall, Head-designate of the new school.

Susan Brooks graduated from Queensland University in 2003 and came to the UK in 2007 to teach at Bromford’s School, Wickford, in Essex before taking up the position of Head of History at Broomwood Hall in 2008. She was promoted to Senior Mistress and Director of Studies before taking on her role as Northwood Schools Deputy Head (Academic) in 2014.

Broomwood Hall was founded by Katherine Colquhoun at Broomwood Rd. Methodist Church SW11 in 1984 with a class of twelve pupils. Broomwood Hall and Northcote Lodge now accommodate almost 1,000 children and are among London’s foremost independent preparatory schools. Pupils regularly win places at top schools including Dulwich College, Emanuel School, Whitgift School, and James Allen’s Girls’ School.

NorthWood Senior aims to meet demand for a local day school that addresses the chronic shortage of secondary places in south London. It will offer a wide range of subjects, sports and activities allowing the students to take a varied range of GCSEs and iGCSEs across the arts, languages, STEM subjects, humanities, music and sport. The group places a strong focus on pastoral care and there will be an equally strong focus on life skills.
