Forest School in Streatham

More and more we become familiar with the concept of Forest School in Streatham. Schools offer it as a complement of classwork or after school clubs and more families prefer activities in nature for their children because they intuitively know that stressed or unhealthy children have more difficulties in learning and growing.

Forest School is an Scandinavian concept of learning in the outdoors rather than in a classroom in all weathers, and it's specially beneficial towards building self esteem and improving behaviour. Forest School Leader provides a theme for the session; he or she suggests materials and tools and provides the opportunity of child led learning/ playing. Forest School Leaders also facilitates group bonding activities such as games, nature walks etc. and helps individual children with tasks.

Nature Vibezzz, a not for profit organisation, provides some of the most popular Forest School activities in Streatham and these are combined with Environmental Education and Practical Nature Conservation sessions, programs, events and community projects. At the moment Nature Vibezzz provides free outdoor activities for different ages funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Trust for London & Walcot Foundation: - After School Club sessions: for Fern Lodge Estate children between 6-12 years old, drop-inevery Wednesday 3.30-5.30 pm, meeting point in Fern Lodge community room. - Knight's Hill Wood Regeneration project: clear up & woods preservation while strengthening the community. Activities every Saturday 2-4 pm, families welcomed. See specific workshops dates and community trips in display board. Get in touch for volunteering at [email protected].

- 'Fathers & Nature Dads Group': Saturdays 10-12 pm drop-in activities for fathers and male carers with their children such as outdoor cooking, tools work, exercising, gardening, overnight camping, live music, parenting tips sharing and more.
