Woodfield Pavilion Re-opens

Once a curiosity hidden behind a fence on Tooting Common, the Woodfield Pavilion is being re-opened and returned to public use.

At the first opening in 1933 (see image below), Alderman Samuel Cresswell announced that the pavilion and grounds were to be ‘preserved for all time for displays, games, and sports. For years they were a hub of activity before the pavilion fell into disrepair as Wandsworth could not afford the upkeep. By 1986 the ground had become an unmarked grass sward and was leased to the Waldorf School.
