Streatham Parish Pump - Issue 27

Volunteers behind the Streatham Free Film Festival have won backing from the Film London Community Screen Scheme for six film projects under the banner of Cine South. Festival co-ordinator Anne-Marie McGregor attended pitched to a board of Film London officials in July. She won funding for her ideas aimed at enabling screenings of more diverse films for more diverse audiences than might go to the local cinema, and encouraging cinemas and community groups to work together.

First up is gangster classic Goodfellas on Nov 11th at the Darby and Joan Club at Woodlawns, Leigham Court Rd. with a plate of  Vinnie's prison pasta included!

November 26th will see anti-hero comedy Deadpool in The Standard pub with prizes for costumes. Sunday,

December 4th brings Bugsy Malone to the Hideaway Jazz Club, followed by The Rocky Horror Picture Show there on December 22nd. Profits will go towards Streatham Free Film Festival 2017 and a touring pop up cinema. Tickets start from £5. streatham

New Openings

As we enter the darker winter months there continue to be a variety of bright new openings in the area that include Poundworld, the British variety store chain, at 121-127 Streatham High Rd. There is a new restaurant, La Fresca, which includes a wood-burning pizza oven in their extensive menu at 155 Streatham High Road.
