Granny's Attic at Croydon Folk Club, Monday 13th May, 8:15
Event date:
Monday, 13 May, 2019 - 20:15

Granny’s Attic are a fantastic folk trio who play the tradition with verve, energy and their own inimitable style. These three (very) young men from Worcester are all exceptional musicians and fine singers who play English traditional and original music.

Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne, George Sansome and Lewis Wood formed Granny’s Attic in 2009.
They have since played at clubs and festivals up and down the country, and have been heralded for their lively performances and maturity beyond their years in their delivery and selection of traditional songs.
Granny’s Attic festival highlights include Shrewsbury, Chester, Bristol, The Gate to Southwell, a very damp Warwick, not forgetting Broadstairs.
2011 saw them release their debut EP ‘Mind the Gap’ featuring a mix of traditional and original tunes.

Cohen, melodeon, concertina and vocals, has been involved in folk and traditional music for over a decade and is well regarded both as a musician and a singer. In 2014, he won Bromyard Folk Festival’s Future of Young Folk Award. Outside of Granny’s Attic, he performs as a soloist with a repertoire of traditional English songs and tunes.

George sings and plays guitar. Folk music combines a good few of his interests – singing, history, people and pubs. He also performs solo, singing traditional songs from England and beyond. In his spare time he plays euphonium and occasionally dips his toes into the murky waters of the Brass Band world.

Lewis plays violin and mandolin and is also the band’s principal tunewriter. He has been playing folk music for most of his life. In recent years he has concentrated on playing for dance. His duo with Helen Gentile plays tunes from all over Europe, both as concert material and for dancing.
